Nightforce Optics
Early in 2008, I was able to get four Nightforce Scopes for Testing and analysis and for use in our Practical Shooting Academy. Nightforce has purchased a considerable name for scopes that are built to stand up to the sort of abuse that everyday usage in coarse conditions can throw at them. They are being employed by fifty caliber shooters for thousand yard shooting and beyond, special operations snipers in Iraq and Afghanistan and top competitive shooters searching for a scope that's as consistent as a top quality timepiece apropos toughness and repeatability, time and time again.
My standards for testing are simple. I put them in numerous different conditions over time and test them in those real world conditions. With temperatures over a hundred to down below 0, bumping around in trucks over dirt trails, pony scabbards, 4 wheelers and plenty of shooting.
All these scopes came with a zero stop feature that permits the shooter to set the nil and lock it in. This also works if you have had your turrets incidentally move on you during transit or some other person dials your scope while handling the rifle. This is an absolute must have option in my viewpoint. Nightforce scopes are built here in the US. They
are built to a normal of toughness that is far and above what you will typically find with other optics firms. They're bigger and often heavier than akin optics from other manufacturers, although the 1-4 and the 2.5-10 are very compact.
